Dutch Curried Pea Soup

  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 whole lettuce shredded
  • 2 sticks of celery shredded
  • 1 large clove garlic chopped
  • 10 cups water
  • 1 chicken stock cube
  • 5 tbs vegetable stock
  • 2 tsps salt
  • 1 or 2 tsps curry powder (to taste)
  • 50g butter or 2tbs oil
  • 2 grated carrots
  • 1 large potato grated
  • 1kilo frozen peas
  • 1 cup fresh cream


Sauté onion, lettuce, celery and garlic in butter. Add curry, potato, peas, water and seasoning (stock)
Simmer for 2 hours. Liquidize. Return to stove and add cream. Adjust seasoning to taste. Serve with croutons. (Optional)
